Ilumina 502 Delivers Short-Run Color Printing on Oversized, Ultra Thick Cover

15 May, 2008 – The Netherlands – Announced today, the Ilumina 502 occupies a unique place in the market due to its ability to easily handle a wide range of paper weights, from text to ultra thick cover, 75 to 502 gsm. The Ilumina 502 is priced affordably so that small to mid-sized print shops can now make money producing short run four-color jobs on an even wider range of substrates previously unavailable for digital printing.

Xanté has pushed the limits of the highly successful Ilumina Digital Color Press to include higher memory capacity, improved quality and even heavier stock.

“The Ilumina 502 is designed to help print shops significantly expand their product offerings and profit from producing a wide range of short run, high-quality full color jobs, quickly and affordably. From business cards to packaging, the Ilumina produces full color output on a variety of heavy stock and oversized media. This eliminates minimum run-length issues and helps printers produce more jobs in-house,” says Xanté CEO, Robert Ross.

Xanté customers benefit from an expansive range of output capabilities, including premium four-color business cards, postcards, t-shirt transfers, labels, direct mail pieces and brochures to more specialized products such as packaging. Additionally, the Ilumina 502 digital press is capable of utilizing a wide range of special, and in demand, substrates including fiber-enhanced papers such as textured canvas, sleek metallic, cast coated, and magnetic stocks.

New Xanté Myriad Magnetic digital media, a flexible, poly vinyl magnet digital media, is specifically designed for short-run, full color printing on the Ilumina 502. Because it is not a paper-based material, Myriad Magnetic media is perfectly suited for outdoor applications such as magnetic signs on autos, decals, and promotional signs. The 0.5 mm thick material can also be used for promotional ideas on refrigerator magnets, magnetic photos, automobile signage, business cards and more. The magnetic media is available in A4 and 13” x 19” sizes.

Through a partnership with Antalis and newly formed relationships with Tullis Russell, M-Real and SMART Papers, Xanté customers now have access to a significant array of premium heavy stock and specialty papers. Xanté and Antalis have collaborated on a catalog of unique, multi-dimensional premium papers available to customers. The Xanté Paper Book will be available in limited quantities at the Xanté drupa exhibit.

The Ilumina 502 was featured at the recent Graphics of the Americas (GOA) show, which took place February 28 through March 1 in Miami Beach, Florida; and will also be featured at drupa, taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, May 29 to June 11.

Availability
Ilumina 502 will be available to European customers Summer 2008.
