- Product Serial Number
- CL 21---The serial number is located on
the left side of the printer underneath the power
cord.
812, 8100, 8200, 8300, PLATEMAKER, ACCEL-A-WRITER,
SCREENWRITER--- The serial number is located
on the back of the printer on a XANTÉ label.
Colour ScreenWriter and ColourLaser---The
serial number is on the inside of the front panel.
FilmMaker and StockMaker--- The serial number
is on the back of the printer.
AW1200 ---The serial number is on the back
of the printer and begins with 12-XXXX.
Product Name
- The product name is on the front panel label and
appears on the start-up
page of printers.
- Highest Resolution Available
(except for AW1200)
- Scroll through the options in the DPI menu under
the the Miscellaneous (MISC) configuration menu
on your printer's front panel to determine the highest
resolution available on your printer.
- Amount of RAM Installed
- The amount of RAM installed in your printer appears
on the start-up
page.
- Internal IDE Drive
- The IDs of all hard disks installed on your printer
appear on the start-up
page.
- Internal SCSI Drive
- The IDs of all hard disks installed on your printer
appear on the start-up
page.
- Ethernet Port
- If your printer has an Ethernet port, the Ethernet
address appears on the start-up
page.
- NEIT (except for AW1200)
- If your printer has XANTÉ's patented NEIT,
a NEIT menu appears in the Miscellaneous (MISC)
configuration menus on your printer's front panel.
- Extra Wide Print Option
- On an Accel-a-Writer 8200 or a PlateMaker II,
a warning sign on the front of the printer when
the fold down feed tray is open indicates that this
option is installed and that an extra wide toner
cartridge must be used to receive the extra wide
printing area. On the Accel-a-Writer 8300, a black
dot on the bar code label (visible when you open
the top cover) indicates that the Extra Wide Print
Option is installed.
- Printer Driver and Version
- On a Macintosh, select File: Page Setup from the
Finder menu. The printer driver and version for
your system's default printer appear in the dialog
box.
On Windows 95/98/ME/2000, select Start: Settings:
Printers. Then, highlight your printer, click the
left mouse button, and select Properties. Select
the Paper tab and click the About button to display
the printer driver version and PPD.
- PPD and Version
- On a Macintosh, open the Chooser, select the printer
driver you are using, select your printer, then
click Setup. The PPD currently selected for the
printer is displayed in the setup dialog box.
On Windows 95/98/ME/2000, select Start: Settings:
Printers. Then, highlight your printer, click the
left mouse button, and select Properties. Select
the Paper tab and click the About button to display
the printer driver version and the PPD.
- Adobe PostScript Version
- The PostScript version is listed in the lower
right of the start-up
page:
Version 2014.x = PostScript Level 2
Version 3010.x = PostScript 3.
- Firmware Version
- Hold down the ONLINE key on the printer's front
panel for five seconds to display the firmware version
in the front panel window. This feature is not available
on all printers; on the AW1200 the version is on
the start-up page.
How to Print a Start-Up
Page
- Press the ONLINE key to take the printer off line.
- Press the TEST key to print a start-up page.
- Press the ONLINE key to put the printer back on
line.
Note: Make sure the power source is grounded, functional,
and rated for your printer. Make sure the printer
is turned on.
Is everything properly installed and set up?
- Make sure the toner cartridge and paper trays
are inserted firmly in the printer.
- Make sure there is paper in the selected tray.
- Make sure the printer is on line.
- Check the front panel for error messages.

Troubleshooting Steps
For all XANTÉ Printers
These are simple steps that can resolve most printing
problems.
Verify that the printer has power.
Make sure the power cord is plugged securely into the
printer and a power source.
Make sure the power source is grounded, functional,
and rated for your printer.
Make sure the printer is turned on.
Verify that the printer is set up properly.
Make sure the toner cartridge and paper trays are firmly
seated in the printer.
Make sure there is paper loaded in the selected tray.
Make sure the printer is online.
Make sure there are no error messages displayed on printers
with front panels.
Turn off the printer and make sure all cable connections
are secure.
Factory Reset Instructions
For all XANTÉ Printers except the AW1200
A factory reset should be performed only after all printer
cables and components have been reseated and when all
other methods of correcting printing errors have been
exhausted.
Note: Cables and components should be reseated only
while printer power is off.
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Use the chart below to determine the two-key combination
required to perform a factory reset on your printer.
LaserPress, Accel-a-Writer 812, all other printers except
the AW1200

1. Turn on the printer while pressing the two-key combination
for your printer.
2. Wait until "initializing" appears in the
printer's front panel window; then, release the keys
and a printer start-up page will print.
One last try...
- Turn off the printer.
- Reseat all cable connections.
- Reinitialize the printer.
Note: This resets all printer settings to the factory
defaults.
- Hold down the ONLINE and TRAY SELECT
keys and turn on the printer.
- Release the keys after RESET appears
in the front panel window.
