RIPit Introduces ImagerQ Concerto Option for its Award-Winning OpenRIP Workflow at Graph Expo
October 15, 2006 – CHICAGO (Graph & Converting Expo) – RIPit Imaging Systems today unveils ImagerQ Concerto, a new remote viewing and output control option which works in concert with the company’s award- winning OpenRIP Symphony workflow. Concerto is being shown here with OpenRIP Symphony and RIPit’s newly expanded SpeedSetter VM Series, the affordable, high-quality violet metal Computer-to-Plate (CtP) solutions, at Graph Expo 2006 in booth #5434, from October 15-18.
Concerto TIFF Integration
RIPit’s Concerto software provides easy integration with OpenRIP Symphony and any 1-bit TIFF workflow. It provides independent control for a variety of platesetters and imagesetters, including RIPit’s new SpeedSetter VM platesetter series. The client/server design allows any user to submit raster files, preview them, set output options and control output to imaging devices.
“Concerto is ideal for our small to mid-sized customers who are expanding their facilities. Concerto gives print shop operators located on other floors, or otherwise far away, direct control of the job output. They can submit, preview or send files to a platesetter for imaging on the networked workstation, truly increasing productivity,” says Chris Van Duker, RIPit Product Manager.
Unique features of Concerto include:
♦ Remote control: The Concerto client is written in Java, which allows it to be used with Windows, Macintosh, Linux/Unix, or any other platform supporting Java. Multiple users can connect to the server simultaneously, allowing for unmatched flexibility and control.
♦ Job submission: Jobs can be submitted as TIFF files from any RIP or workflow product. Concerto can parse the filename to extract page and color information, and produce thumbnails so the user can see what jobs will look like when output. Jobs can also be submitted from OpenRIP Symphony using RIPit’s RRJ file format, preserving all page, color, and plate templating information automatically. Jobs can be submitted to Concerto by dropping them in a watched folder, or by dragging them into the Concerto client window from any workstation.
♦ Output options: Concerto permits setting and editing of plate templating options, meaning that users don’t have to configure the RIP to produce plates for their various presses — they don’t even have to know, at RIP time, which press will be used to run a job.
♦ Thumbnail view: When jobs are added to Concerto, it automatically generates thumbnails of all the separations and pages. Users can open and zoom in on pages and separations from each job, check traps or other content, and ensure that the job is ready to be output.
♦ Output progress: When a job is launched for output, Concerto displays imaging progress. Users can queue jobs for output, and reprint plates as needed.
