RIPit Brings New Adobe® PDF Print Engine to Quick Printers:
RIPit to Preview OpenRIP® Workflow Using Adobe’s New PDF Print Engine
October 16, 2006 – CHICAGO (Graph & Converting Expo) – RIPit Imaging Systems, Inc. announced at Graph Expo 2006 today that it will preview the upcoming version of OpenRIP® Symphony featuring Adobe’s new PDF Print Engine. Adobe’s industry-leading PDF imaging technology combines with RIPit’s ease-of-use and support for the quick to mid-sized printing segments to bring higher levels of performance, consistency, and reliability to the marketplace – at a reasonable price point. RIPit is the leading RIP workflow supplier to the majority of quick printers and franchises in North America, and has the ability to bring the advanced yet economical Adobe PDF-based workflow to this segment.
The new OpenRIP Symphony uses the Adobe PDF Print Engine to process native PDF files without an intermediate conversion to PostScript. The result is improved quality for documents using transparency, in-RIP trapping, and color management – particularly when those features are used together.
RIPit will preview OpenRIP Symphony in a live demonstration for the press on Tuesday, October 17, at McCormick Place South Convention Center, Room S 501d, at 10 a.m., in Chicago. Mathias Siegel, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Digital Workflow Products for Adobe is scheduled to speak at the event. RIPit is also featuring its latest solutions at its Graph Expo booth # 5434.
Adobe’s Senior Director of Product Marketing and Business Development, Don Walker, says, “We’re very pleased to be able to support RIPit at Graph Expo, as the company demonstrates its latest innovation, the newest version of the highly popular OpenRIP Symphony workflow. The application of the Adobe PDF Print Engine for small to mid- sized printers is a particularly powerful one that we are confident will show excellent returns in consistency and productivity.”
“Over the years, RIPit and Adobe have had a great working relationship. Today, RIPit is very excited to build our newest OpenRIP using the Adobe PDF Print Engine,” says Wayne Wasulko, RIPit Founder and President. “This is a genuine step forward for the printing industry. PDF files are a more consistent and reliable way of transmitting documents and now the Adobe PDF Print Engine completes the picture with a fully PDF-based workflow.”
Benefits of the OpenRIP Symphony with Adobe PDF Print Engine
The new OpenRIP Symphony version, built with the Adobe PDF Print Engine, enables more workflow consistency and flexibility. OpenRIP Symphony uses the Adobe PDF Print Engine to process native PDF files without an intermediate conversion to PostScript®. The result is improved quality for documents using transparency, in-RIP trapping, and color management – particularly when those features are used together. The combined solution makes it possible for creative professionals and print service providers to maintain the integrity of the design content throughout the workflow. The new OpenRIP Symphony Workflow being previewed at Graph Expo is expected to be available Q1 ‘07.
